Hopping on a speed boat with a bride clutching her wedding dress was a first for us. As shrieks of joy (and maybe a little, “omg, don’t let go!”) echoed across the water and we approached the secluded beach cove that is Las Caletas, we knew this wedding was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Alyssa, the outgoing one, and James, the quiet, irreverent one, first met at Emerson College, where both were involved in the college TV station. After seven years of dating and a move to the West Coast, they were engaged before a last-minute trip to Palm Springs –– a moment that represented their love of spontaneity and each other. It was only fitting that this incredible, energetic couple would pick a unique location and Las Caletas, a beachfront hideaway, accessible only by boat from Puerto Vallarta, lived up to all expectations. 

A Las Caletas Wedding

On February 16, 2020, after a smooth boat ride to Las Caletas, Alyssa kicked off her wedding day with a refreshing dip in the ocean with her bridesmaids. As Alyssa slipped into her timeless lace wedding gown and did a little shimmy, it became clear that every detail and every moment of this day came back to laughing and spending time with a small and ecstatic group of loved ones. 

Guests made the same trek by boat that afternoon and, as they stepped onto the Las Caletas beach, they were welcomed with tequila shots because, hey, it’s a party! Then, surrounded by a bridal party in glittering neutral dresses and sleek navy suits, showing just because a wedding is oceanfront doesn’t mean it has to be tropical themed, Alyssa and James said their vows in front of an intimate group and with the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. 

With twinkling lights and salty air, the group danced the night away, bringing a day full of love and celebration to a festive close.
