We may be Californians now, but we love an excuse to get back to the East Coast and we really love a Virginia vineyard wedding. We were thrilled to shoot Casey and Jim’s Potomac Point Winery October wedding in Stafford, VA. Casey is a high school friend of Megan’s and this incredibly fun couple is surrounded by the most loving family and friends, who joined them for a three-day weekend of revelry, dancing, and celebrations.

Fall Wedding at Potomac Point Winery

Before we get into the details, let’s take a moment to marvel at the backdrop. Is there anything more beautiful than a vineyard in the fall? Spoiler: there’s not. But, somehow, the stunning fall decor, with vibrant, rich autumnal flowers by Bergeron’s Flowers, made this countryside venue even more lovely.

Speaking of lovely, are you lusting after Casey’s intricate wedding dress like we are? It’s Olivia Bowen Bridal, and La Boutique de Bridal and Tuxedos took on the tailoring challenge to make it fit Casey like a glove. All that embroidery, the sheer sleeves, and the cathedral length veil. It’s actual bridal perfection –– and clearly we weren’t the only ones who feel that way. Look at the tears in Casey’s father’s eyes as he sets his sights on his daughter as a bride for the first time. Note: we always love a father-daughter first look!

Casey and Jim’s heartfelt ceremony was officiated by the professor who taught the grad school class where they first met. With touching, personalized vows recited amidst the vineyard and culminating in a unity sand ceremony, these too made a lifelong commitment that rang true to who they are as a couple.

Of course, these two joyful people had to celebrate after making their union official! Their family and friends stayed on the dance floor all night long and, in one of the most touching moments of the evening, the DJ played the song Jim’s grandparents danced to at their own wedding –– and those two hit the dance floor, singing along to every word. Yes, we’re tearing up as we look back on that memory.

“Pick a Photographer That Makes You Feel Comfortable”

And, we swear we didn’t pay them to say this, BUT, when asked what advice they’d offer to couples planning their wedding, Casey and Jim answered, “When we were wedding planning someone told us that your photographer is the most important decision you'll make, and they were so right. Our wedding day was shockingly perfect - the weather, the dress, the food, the reception –– but in 50 years how can you remember all of those details without a fantastic photographer? Pick a professional photographer that makes you feel comfortable and they can capture every moment of your day for you and your family to cherish for generations.”
