Micro Wedding
Tyler & Rachel
One of the silver linings of this strange year is seeing how families rally around couples to support them during a wedding planning process that doesn’t always go quite like, well, planned.
Family has always been an integral part of Tyler and Rachel’s story. When the couple got engaged three years ago on a trip to a vineyard, their family coordinated a celebratory picnic package (can’t have wine without cheese and crackers, right?!) along with a letter expressing their excitement for the two lovebirds. Whether near or far, while at home in Florida or living in DC, their families have been there to support them every step of the journey.
But through two and half years of planning their Vero Beach wedding, Tyler and Rachel had no idea they’d end up saying “I do” with a micro wedding in Rachel’s mom’s backyard, only their nearest and dearest by their sides. In a year filled with 180-degree turns, their parents were there to pitch in, coordinate, plan, and surround them with love –– and the couple ended up with the most perfect tiny celebration on a beautiful Florida fall day.
A Backyard Wedding
There’s something you learn as a wedding photographer and that is, it never hurts to have a mom with an eye for design. Rachel’s mom, aka Linda C Adams Interiors, handled all the decor and the most gorgeous flowers. She created a wedding vibe that felt right for fall yet was simultaneously bright, white, and airy. It perfectly represented all the lighthearted fun and passion that Tyler and Rachel share. And seriously, those pops of red! We’re still swooning over them.
Steal a Moment Together With a First Look
So many of our couples debate whether to do a first look but, for Tyler and Rachel, it was one of the most meaningful moments. Even with a small guest list of family, couples are pulled in a hundred directions throughout their wedding day. Everyone wants to grab time with the newlyweds! Their first look gave them a chance to let the significance of the day sink in –– and to spend a few moments together, privately.
Make the Ceremony All Your Own
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: while your family is incredibly important, your wedding day is all about you two (and your quirks!). If that means you’re going to write a poem and rap it as your vows, you do that! Rachel sure did. And it was 100% on brand for a hilarious, warm, wears-her-heart-on-her-sleeve kind of woman. Everyone got a kick of it –– especially Tyler. That’s what this is all about. Creating a day that feels totally, utterly you. That’s what makes a memorable celebration.
And, lastly, we’ll leave you with a practical word of advice from the happy couple,
“Bring a change of shoes if you plan on wearing heels! And also find time to eat!”
