Erika & Dustin

If there was one quote to sum up planning a wedding in 2020, it came from Erika. When filling out a questionnaire regarding vendors, she wrote in
“Lollllllll :)” for planner.

Erika and Dustin, an offbeat couple whose captivating engagement session took place at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, originally had a grand gothic ball planned for 2020. We bet you can guess how that went (spoiler: it didn’t).

A Backyard Pub-Sub Catered Halloween Celebration

But what they had was equally awesome (and, don’t worry, they’re having that fancy ball in 2021). They went to work with DIY, Erika dying the flowers and Dustin crafting the arch, and gathered only 10 guests for a backyard Publix-sub-catered, laid-back, Halloween celebration –– costumes, of course, included. Now, how many people can say they had both a Pan-Am flight attendant and a flower child at their wedding?

Honoring the Generations

With Erika dressed as Lydia in her stunning red lace gown and Dustin in his Beetlejuice best, these two gothic spirits said their vows after a toast with Erika’s parents’ wedding crystal and while wearing her grandparents’ wedding rings. They may have snagged their readings from The Handbook for the Recently Deceased, but this celebration was all about honoring their loved ones in the present.

Make Your Day Into Something That Represents You

And, from a delightfully non-traditional couple comes a wise word of advice for all couples, “Don’t worry about traditions, and make your day into something that represents you as a couple. It’s all about the union of two souls, and everything else is icing on the cake! Marry your best friend.”
